Be safe if you are going out tonight and no matter what you are doing have a great time!
Kolin & I are headed out tonight to join some friends at our local bowling alley for their New Years Eve party. We haven't been out in years and got the chance and jumped at it.
We had fun with the kids earlier today. Had our own little party complete with movies, goodies and games.

Boys will be boys!
Kolin and Brennan were watching the Illini game tonight.
Brennan was watching the cheerleaders and wanted to know if they were actually cheerleaders.
Kolin: "Yes, they are cheerleaders. Do you think they're hot?"
Brennan turning bright red: "Dad, don't talk about the love."

Christmas Eve Service
I don't know why I freak out every Christmas Eve before we leave for the Children's 7pm service. It's crazy around here! Then we get to the church and usually the kids get dressed up in some type of nativity costume and you never actually see what they are wearing anyway. Next year, they can just wear whatever they want....hopefully we'll be able to get Karis out of her pajamas.

New Ornaments
Every year I go out and get all of us new ornaments for our Christmas tree. We've literally got a little bit of everything. This year I found these cute hand painted snowmen. It took a while to find 5 different ones for the kids. Kolin & I ended up with the same one since I couldn't find 7 of them that weren't alike.
Don't you love the puzzle wreath? Brennan was so excited to bring it home. He wouldn't let me wait for Kolin to get home to open it up.
This ornament is HEAVY, but oh so neat. Taryn made it at school with rice, glue and some green food coloring. After it was dry she added the glitter and confetti to it.

Project Life
I'm so excited to get my Project Life kit(s) in a couple of weeks.
All the pictures that I've taken and posted on my 365 blog over the last almost year are going to have a new home. A book all for itself that anyone will be able to flip through at anytime. The best thing is the simplicity of it all. You can use the kit for ANYTHING and ANY SUBJECT.

Party Time!
Today was a BUSY day!
We had Karis' birthday party this afternoon. A couple hours later we had a Christmas party to go to at the neighbors across the street and then later that night Kolin and I bowled scotch doubles with some friends. With everything going on it made for a very long and on the go day, but it was definitely worth it.

Mommy, what exactly does this mean?
A sentence from the book Jadyn is reading.....
"I got my period!" Lizzie shouts. "Congratulate me. I'm a woman now."
Though Jadyn had some idea of what is meant...she wanted to know EXACTLY what it meant.
I think I handled it like a pro. Kolin just started laughing. Then he told me a few minutes later that he really should get used to those types of questions since he DOES have 4 daughters.

Overheard in the kitchen tonight
Whiny Miss Ryanne is sitting in her highchair.
Kolin goes over to let her out of the highchair and asks her:
"If I let you out are you going to stop whining?"
Her response: "Nooooooooooooooo"

Not quite what we expected
It started by waking up with a couple of inches of snow on the ground. Taryn, Karis, Ryanne and I left earlier than we were going to since both Taryn and I had appointments 45 minutes away.
Taryn got weighed and for the first time she is actually over 40lbs. 40.7lbs to be exact!!!!! We got to wait for our favorite doctor in the airplane room. The rooms are all decorated differently and we usually get the sea turtle room.
We are all excited to see Miss Patty and find out how the EEG results...just knowing that they are going to be normal. Then Miss Patty comes in and I hear the words:
The EEG was abnormal...
Taryn's done everything she's supposed to do. She's taken her medicine without much complaint for the last 6 1/2 years. She's had numerous blood draws and sleep deprived EEGs. We've gone 25 months seizure free. She's been doing great off her medicine. We haven't noticed anything and neither has her teacher.
It turns out that Taryn is actually having seizures while she's sleeping....which of course we would never see or know about. During the EEG and while she was sleeping she actually had multiple burst characterized by generalized sharp waves seen in the absence of a clinical event. Really that just means that she was sleeping like she normally would be and the seizure came without them doing anything to actually cause it during the test.
With the type of seizures she has, it's typical to have one while first waking up or going to sleep and also when she's sleeping. Her having normal EEGs while on her medicine just means that the medicine was working as it is supposed too.
Tonight we start back on her medicine. We've told Taryn is basic terms what's going on and she's fine with it all. Really she doesn't know any differently. She's more upset that she'll have to have another EEG at some point down the line.
We don't know at this point when we'll be able to try again. We do know that at some point we'll try again and get a normal result.
She'll get there...just not right now.

Christmas Walk
Every year the town we live in has a Christmas Walk. Lots of fun things to do in different shops, visits with Santa, Singing Christmas Carols...you get the idea. We had intentions of going tonight....very good good intentions.
The weather just didn't cooperate with us. It was way to cold to go out and walk around downtown.
Instead we decided to surprise the kids and we took them to see Planet 51.
