It was much easier

going shopping for birthday presents when the kids were smaller and had no clue what I was doing. I could take them all with me, grab what I was looking for, throw it in the cart and we could leave. This doesn't happen anymore.

They've just gotten nosier and the lips have gotten looser at the wrong time. Needless to say I do most of the shopping by myself now.

Tomorrow starts the round of July birthdays in our house. Kolin turns the big 35, Jadyn turns 9 and Taryn will be 7 by the end of the month.

Failed Again!

I got off the phone with the OB's office a while ago.
I failed....I'm a failure....I'm so glad I enjoyed my pizza last night since it'll be the last one we have for a while.
I should hear from the dietician today or tomorrow. The nurse was going to fax all the information over to her this morning. I'll have to get a meter and check my sugars.
I'm totally bummed!

No glasses for Taryn

Taryn had her eye appt this morning. We went through the whole routine and it was deemed that at this time glasses are not needed. We do have to go back in a year and see if anything has changed..especially since Kolin and Jadyn both have glasses.

I failed....

I got a call from the OB nurse yesterday afternoon telling me that I failed my 1 hour glucose test. I wasn't way over, but enough to have to do the 3 hour test now....never had to do it before. Rather than psych myself out more than I already have I decided to take the test tomorrow morning. I can't have anything to eat or drink (including water) from 10pm tonight until whenever tomorrow morning.

I've got to be at the clinic at 8, drink that nasty orange sugary crap and wait, wait, wait.

Wish me luck!

A quick rainbow...

One minute it was nice and sunny, the next the dark clouds were moving in. We were playing outside when it started to rain and this is what we found shorly after.

Super Daddy....

Kolin brought out some action figures the other day that the little ones don't normally get to play with. You would have thought that Brennan had never seen them before, even though he's got a vast assortment himself. We are definitely an action figure F-A-M-I-L-Y! This isn't even 1/16th of what is normally 'hidden' from the little people.

29 weeks!

Great appointment! Both doctors in the practice ended up having to be over at the hospital delivering babies and I ended up seeing the nurse practicioner. Little miss is doing well. HB was at 140 once she was still enough to get a good reading.

Her head is definitely not down at this point...most of the time she lays transverse and I get punches and kicks on both sides. Sitting for long periods of time hurts because of the position she's in. My back isn't enjoying this position either.

Blood pressure is really good, along with everything else. I should have the results of my glucose test (or what I like to call "I hope I don't throw up 1 hr test") by Monday afternoon.

I go back in 3 weeks and then we're down to every 2 weeks for a bit and then once a week. The only 'bad' part about closer together appts is that it's harder to find an appt that matches what I need.

VBS Day 1 & 2

The kids are enjoying VBS thus far. All four went yesterday, with just a little hesitation on Karis' part. They all came home with crafts they made and loved telling me about their day.

Today was a different matter. 3/4 ended up staying. Little Miss Karis decided that VBS isn't for her and spent the morning with mommy. Maybe tomorrow will be a different story and she'll decide to stay, but she is only 2 and I'm not about to make her do something she just doesn't want to do.

Another busy week....

Vacation Bible School starts this week and all 4 munchkins get to go. This year they have lowered the age to 2 and miss Karis is going to check it out. She'll be with a girl who usually babysits her, so we shouldn't have any problems. I figure she'll just think it's like playgroup with more singing and crafts. =) I'll be hanging out with a bunch of girlfriends at a friends house scrappin' while the kids are at VBS and then we'll stay and swim in the afternoon as long as the weather permits.

Speaking of swimming, I ordered the older three munchkins swim belts from http://www.kiefer.com/
A girlfriend has one for her son and I figured with as much swimming as they'll be doing this summer they will definitely come in handy. Each will get a different color so that should hopefully put a stop to any arguements that might start about who gets which belt.

I've got a baby dr. appt later in the week and have to do the nasty glucose test. They aren't terrible, but I certainly don't look forward to doing them.

Great first week at camp

Jadyn & Taryn had a great time at camp last week. They took pictures, made their own scrapbooks (I'll post some pics soon), went swimming every day as long as the weather cooperated, went on hikes, got some bug bites (Jadyn had a nasty bite that freaked us out a bit), went on a field trip to a local photography studio, played games and had so much fun that they were both completely worn out by the time I picked them up.

They don't go back until the middle of July, but they are already looking forward to going!

Eye Appt Time

Thank goodness for reminders or I would have forgotten all about it. Taryn has an eye appt tomorrow morning to see if she needs glasses or not.

When she hurt her eye a few months ago we took her in and she had a quick eye check. They wanted her to come in sometime this summer to get a better look. She had a physical at the dr's office a couple of weeks ago and they came up with almost the same 'perscription' for her.

Tomorrow should be interesting....

UPDATE: I rescheduled the appt this morning so that Taryn wouldn't miss any time at camp.

Contender Ready?

That's what I'll be hearing for the next 3-4 days at least. Well that and Brennan asking when American Gladiators is going to be on again....

Busy Week Ahead

Jadyn and Taryn start their first week of day camp tomorrow. This is a snap and scrap week. They'll be making their own scrapbooks and taking their own pictures. They'll be doing different activites related to photography. Both of them should have a great time.

Karis has her playgroup Tuesday morning. She is enrolled in a young athletes program that is running for the first time this summer. For 8 weeks she'll be 'training' and then towards the end of July they will have a field day. Siblings ages 2-7 are able to join as well so we signed Brennan up too.

Kolin's going to be keeping busy with work and I'm sorting though baby clothes. Deciding what to keep and what to get rid of isn't easy.

Mountain Dew Bowling Tourny

Jadyn's in her last bowling tournament of the season this afternoon. It's 6 pin no tap (she only needs to knock down 6 pins on her first ball to get a strike) so it should be realtively easy for her. We don't have far to go to get there and I'm hoping the herd cooperates for mommy today.

Update:

Jadyn did okay. She needs to work on her approach and listen to advice when it's given to her. Nerves get the best of her as well every time. She just needs to go out and have fun with it, while still knocking down as many pins as she can.

Contemplating...

Kolin is out of town until late Sunday and I'm thinking about taking the kids to the movies or the drive-in tonight/tomorrow to see Kung-Fu Panda. Not sure if it will happen or not, as I'm wanting to break out in hives just thinking about it. LOL

We'll probably wait until next weekend when daddy is home and he can help out.

We love the drive-in

We're lucky enough to have a drive-in theater about 10 minutes away. Saturday we decided almost at the last minute to go check out the new Indiana Jones movie. The kids love playing on the play equipment before the movie starts and I love the fact that we can bring all our goodies (sans popcorn) in with us without feeling guilty.

We had to scramble back into the car about 20 minutes after the movie started due to a thunderstorm, but it passed us by fairly quickly and set up the chairs again and started over.

Karis feel asleep in the car during the movie, but the other 3 really enjoyed themselves. As long as the weather cooperates I can see us going back numerous times throughout the summer.
