It amazes me how crazy the last 5-6 weeks of school get. Each of the girls have field trips, walking field trips, picnic days, cook outs day.... Then you throw in a couple of 1/2 days and Memorial Day and it's just plain nuts!
Brennan has field trip tomorrow to a local nature center. Karis and I are going with him. His last day of school is on May 22nd.
Karis keeps going to her playgroup throughout the summer. Should be interesting dropping her off and getting her to stay while the other 3 are home.

Where did spring go?
We are definitely missing out 70 degree weather the last few days. This morning we woke up to a rain/snow mix. YUCK!

Can you hear me now?
Since Saturday we've had no dial tone whatsoever. No phone, no internet, nothing. Thank goodness for cellphones.
I called yesterday and made an appt for them to come check out the problem today. Of course they show up just as I'm getting out of the shower. :thud:
Anyway, the problem had something to do with the line that goes into the crawl space. The lady that showed up was able to fix the line from the outside on the side of the house.
You have to love a non static phone line.

Sunshine!
It was almost shorts weather today...tomorrow it's supposed to be in the high 70's and the shorts just might come out. I'm love having the windows open and the kids are loving playing outside for the majority of the day.
Our last day of bowling was today and the girls' last day was yesterday. Next weekend the girls have their banquet and end of the year awards. Kolin and I have our end of the year meeting as well, but that just lasts long enough to hand our the money we won throughout the year and say see ya in the fall. =)

Names
Kolin and I have a little boys name set in stone. Little girl names are another story all together though. Should this little one be a girl there could be a good chance that she'll come home as baby girl XXXX.
I've taken to writing down girl names that strike me and then Kolin gets to cross off the names he doesn't really like.
Last night he and Brennan were going over the newest list of names. Kolin was trying to get Brennan to tell him which one(s) he liked and he decided that he liked each and every one. Of course that didn't help Kolin at all as he was trying to come up with his top fave 4.
Baby should have just cooperated with us! It might have saved us a lot of indecision.

Child Fun Fair
One of the highschool groups put on a children's fun fair tonight. We went and checked it out when Kolin got off work. The kids had a blast! There were a lot of different games for them all to play and the prizes were good ones and not a bunch of things that were going to be broken and thrown away within a couple of days.
Karis really doesn't like big crowds of people so Kolin and I played pass the 2 year old a bunch. =)

How do you explain
to a 2-year-old that she DOES not need medicine twice a day like two of her siblings do? I tell ya it's not easy. In the evening she really doesn't care, but in the morning Karis is right there with Brennan and Taryn asking for 'her' medicine as Brennan and Taryn are getting their's.
We just tell her that NOT needing medicine everyday is a GOOD Thing.

It's taken us months
to convince Brennan that he doesn't need to wear a pull-up at night. He's woken up dry every night, but mentioning just wearing his underwear causes him to get upset. Two nights ago we ran out of pull-ups (no really) and told him that he'd have to wear underwear to bed. He was a little apprehensive but went along with it.
I swear he got up about 5-6 times throughout the night to go to the bathroom, but he woke up dry and was sooooo proud of himself. Last night he didn't get up at all and again woke up dry. He's so excited and we're excited too.
Now to get little miss on the potty training train.....

Feet & Ankles
Karis had another PT appt. this morning. She did really well after 10-15 minutes of throwing a tantrum because she didn't want to be there. Drama Queen any one???? She got upset with me because I took her socks off. Go Figure!
Anyway after checking out her feet/ankles it was deemed that they weren't any worse per say but they weren't any better either. The arches in her shoes are helping to keep everything aligned while she is in them and should be helping to strengthen her feet as well, but that's just not the case. We put her in a pair of dress shoes on Easter and her left ankle was really having a hard time being in the shoes. She should have been able to wear them without any problems, but that didn't happen.
We're going to stay away from another pair of Sure Steps. They would be complete overkill, but we are going to go with something else. We are going to order her a pair of inserts for her shoes that she can switch between almost any shoes she wants to wear. I'm not sure about sandals at this point, but we'll figure it out. They will be flexible enough that she shouldn't mind having them in her shoes, but will be able to help strengthen her ankles. We're looking at the Pollywog, Patti Bob or Jump Start Cricket inserts. (got to love the names!) Karis' PT is going to call the company and between the 2 of them they are going to decide on what the best set of inserts will be for our little munchkin.
With the inserts, we'll get a pair of shoes ordered for her as well. (Insurance and EI will pick up the cost of the inserts and shoes) The shoes will make the insertion of the inserts really simple...supposedly.

Our little man
Our little man is getting so big. He loves going to school, learning new things and playing with his friends. It's nice that at this point he'll play with both the boys and the girls without even thinking twice about it. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with having 3 sisters and wanting to play with their stuff. (He doesn't like to share his stuff with his sisters though) =)
He graduates 3 year old preschool in just 8 short weeks. He's registered for his pre-k class and he'll be back in school after Labor Day with most of the kids that he's going to school with now.
He's definitely a rough and tumble little man. Loves it when Kolin will get down and wrestles with him and just do 'boy' stuff. He loves to playing boxing on the wii. It's funnier than funny to watch him really get into it.
He's really hoping for a baby brother come September.

Quiet....
It's almost too quiet. The older three are at school and Karis is at her playgroup. Kolin is in a meeting in Danville today, not sure when he'll be home. I'm going to enjoy the quiet for a little while longer...at least until it's pickup time.

Achy Breaky Body
It is not a good idea to bowl 6 games in one day without wanting to collapse afterwards. Granted they were done in 2 sets about 2 hours apart, but it was a bit bunch for one day.
Jadyn and Taryn are done with their season on April 26th and Kolin and I will be done on April 27th. Jadyn does bowl in a state tournament next month though, she'll be doing a lot of practicing between now and then. Next year each of the girls will move up a notch. Taryn will be bowling without bumpers (that will be a huge shock to her) and Jadyn will be bowling at a different time and with bigger kids. Brennan will get to start bowling as well and he is really excited.

What a fun day!
Today the local community college had a children's fair. I was there helping out with the preschool the kids have all gone too. Kolin brought all 4 and 2 extras with him once the girls were all done bowling. We walked around and got some free samples, the kids got to jump in a bounce house and as far as they are concerned the free popcorn was the best. They had a petting zoo with a lot of different animals a little one normally wouldn't see on a day to day basis.
They also got their face painted. We've got a butterfly, cat and tiger.

Taryn's Eye
Her eye is looking sooooo much better than it did on Wednesday & Thursday. The picture will give you some idea...the redness in the corner of her eye was much brighter.
Perspective Baby Names...Kid Style
While Taryn and I were at the eye doctor she told me that she had the perfect names picked out. She said she wanted us to have 2 more girls and their names would be Hannah & Lily. I told her that I had no clue as to where she could have gotten those names (Hannah Montana.) She just shrugged her shoulders with a big smile on her face and told me she didn't know.
Brennan has decided that we are having 2 boys. (see a theme here?) Their names are going to be Lightning & Mater.
Needless to say I seriously doubt we're having twins and none of these names are being taken into consideration. =) It is neat to see what they come up with though.

Off to the eye doctor this morning...
Got a call from the school nurse yesterday afternoon letting me know that Taryn had somehow hurt herself and had a popped bloodvessel near the corner of her eye and a nice scratch on her lower eyelid.
I went to check it out and it is pretty icky looking. She wouldn't fess up to how it happened to anyone though. I figure she was sure that she was going to get into trouble (not going to happen.) She said he eye didn't hurt, but I don't see how it couldn't. Again I think she was keeping quiet because she thought I'd take her to the dr. right then and there and she'd miss what was left of school.
On the way home from school she whispered to Jadyn and told her what happened. Jadyn of course couldn't wait to spill the beans:
Miss Taryn was being chased by a boy and wasn't watching where she was going. Come to find out that while running she slammed the side of her head into the plastic slide on the playground. OUCH!
We have an appt this morning to make sure everything is alright.

If you were a...
camera battery charger, where would you be? I can't find mine and of course no one is fessing up....I'm sure extra little fingers had something to do with it.
UPDATE: The charger has been found!

Spring...of course
We had some thunderstorms come through yesterday. We had a huge clap above the house and Brennan asked: What was that?
I replied: Spring!
