Jadyn Funnies

I found these hidden in my email and thought I would share them. If I don't write them down, I'll forget them.

A weekend when Kolin was working:

I was putting a movie in the dvd player. Jadyn asked me what I was putting in and before I could reply she says:

"I guess we're getting the silent treatment."

During the summer:

Let me preface by saying that Jadyn is always the first one up. Since she's up she gets cereal out for her sisters and brother and goes about her morning.

This morning Brennan wakes up and Kolin hears the following:

Jadyn: "Here's your cereal Brennan."
Brennan: "I don't want cereal" ( He actually wants a poptart but we're out)
Jadyn: "This is what we have. Eat it or Starve"

She totally gets the last sentence from her mommy.....

Sleeping

It must be nice to be 20 months old, super cute and still sleeping soundly at 9:15am. I just went to check on the little princess and she's out like a light.

No More SureSteps

Karis has outgrown her SureSteps and at this point it's an all around conclusion that another pair would be overkill. We do need to keep her in the stride rite shoes for a while and get her some arch supports. The arch supports will help the pronation in her ankles.

Our little girl is finally figuring out how to kick a ball, walk fast and even run. I wouldn't have thought these would be big milestones, but they are. Her little legs are finally filling out and you can see the muscles working hard to get stronger.

It's hard to believe that she'll be 2 in just a few short months.

Every other day

Jadyn, Taryn and Brennan really like High School Musical 2. We listen to the cd in the car and we watch at least some of the movie every other day or so.

Brennan just woke up from his nap and asked to watch HSM2. I started it from where we stopped it the other day. (We've got a DVR) He's watching and then says "Mama, I need to see Fabulous!" We had started it back up past one of his favorite parts and had to rewind. Thank goodness for the DVR and the rewind feature.

He likes the music more than anything. Brennan is our singer, dancer, entertainer.

The new bearcut

This is as good of a pic as I'm going to get today. Don't you think his forehead is looking a little better?

Drama Princess: Taryn Renee

Taryn would be more than happy to wear a skirt to school everyday. This would be great, but just not always possible. We usually buy the skirts that have shorts sewn into them. It makes it easier since they have gym everyday.

Yesterday the drama princess wore a skirt and was a happy girl. This morning is was time for shorts and you would have thought the Earth stopped rotating. Really! =) She was upset because Jadyn was wearing a skirt and she was wearing shorts. Then she was upset because she didn't look cute in the shorts. (I beg to differ) Then she told me she wasn't going to go to school today until she got to wear a skirt (which pretty much meant she was going to wear shorts.)

About 5 minutes before they were supposed to leave for school she decided to be happy and go afterall.

I stay home with daddy

This morning Brennan and I were have a short conversation about preschool.

Me: Brennan, daddy's going take you to get your haircut this morning.
Brennan: No, bearcuts!
Me: Do you want to go to preschool soon?
Brennan: No
Me: So you're going to stay home with mommy?
Brennan: No, I stay home with daddy.

Needless to say he left with Kolin this morning to get a 'bearcut' and will be going to preschool next week.

Fun Day

The bowling alley had a bowling blastoff today. They had free bowling, free food/drinks and free laser tag for the kids. They also had carnival games, temp tattoos, face painting, DNA sample kits for the kids and other fun stuff going on.

They had some really cute temporary tattoos. The Pirates ones were really neat, but all 3 older kids picked out Shrek.

Toothbrushes

What an ordeal!

Jadyn and Taryn have been bugging me for quite a while to buy powered toothbrushes. A few days ago I found some on sale and picked up 3 of them. The kids were super excited to finally get the chance to use them tonight.

That is until it was actually time to turn them on and USE them.

Taryn was first with her new Spongebob toothbrush. She tried it out for a few seconds and then started crying and telling us that she wanted her old toothbrush back. Brennan was next with his Lightning McQueen toothbrush. As soon as I turned it on and put it in him mouth he was SCREAMING. I don't think he cares for the sound. Back out in the living room he was telling me that I hurt his teeth. Jadyn was last with her Fiona toothbrush. She is the only one who likes her new toothbrush and gave us the thumbs up.

I guess I won't have to fork out the big bucks for the toothtunes toothbrushes anytime soon.

Lots of Water

A total mom moment

I'm sitting on the couch and freak out because I forgot to send lunch money with the girls to school. I grab the phone to call Kolin and see where he is, thinking that if he's close enough he can backtrack and drop the money off at both schools. If not then I'll jump in the shower and do it.

I get a hold of Kolin and he then preceds to tell me that I packed lunches for the girls today and their lunchbags are in their backpacks.

Jadyn's new teacher

While we were out to lunch with Kolin today we ran into Jadyn's 2nd grade teacher. We chatted for a little bit and then she introduced Jadyn and I to Jadyn's new 3rd grade teacher. It was a great opportunity and now Jadyn knows exactly who her new teacher is and what she looks like. I can't believe she's going to be in 3rd grade already.

Last day of summer break

Today is officially the last day of summer break. We've got all their school supplies packed up and ready to go. The first day of school outfits are ready to be worn.

We relaxed around the house this morning. Kolin called and asked if we wanted to go out to lunch..of course I said YES! This afternoon we'll head over to the dam and check it out. With all the water rushing down the river you can't even see the cement of the dam.

I'm not sure that I'm ready for school to start already. The summer seemed to fly this year. I am ready for the schedule of school and knowing what's happening day to day. The constant chantings of "I'm Bored" will be a distant memory...at least for a little while.

We'll be up early tomorrow morning to get everyone out of the house on time and pictures taken. It's only a 1/2 day, but still long enough to acclimate themselves to their new rooms, friends and teacher.

I'm sure it will be an absolute MAD HOUSE around here for the next couple of weeks while everyone settles into our new schedule.

Craft Day For Mom!

Saturday a girlfriend and I are heading down to the Quad Cities to take a couple of craft classes. We're going to learn to make some pretty neat items. Once is a step album and the other is a creative cube. I'm hoping they will be as easy to put together as they look. =)

A just 'girls' day is going to be a blast. Especially since school for the kids starts next week and then the regular busy busy busy schedule starts back up.

High School Musical 2

The premiere is tonight and the girls are soooo incredibly excited. For that matter Brennan keeps asking a million and one times if we can watch it NOW! =)

I'm sure we'll spend most of the day getting ready for the HSM party the girls decided to have and listening to the cd over and over and over again.

Here are some photos from the concert we went to in January. The girls and I had a GREAT time.

Dr. Appt Updates

Brennan is doing great. He weighs 34.9lbs and is 3'3". The idiots at the lab I had his bloodwork done at screwed up and tested his blood for a different type of medication instead of his. It turns out his glucose levels were up. Nothing alarming, but high. Also his liver test came back slightly elevated. In 2 weeks he'll go back in and have more bloodwork done. We'll be getting the correct med checked, fasting glucose and his liver.

Taryn is 34.9lbs (Yes, she and Brennan weigh the same) and is 3'8 1/4". Her bloodwork is fine, but we're now having problems brushing her hair again now that we have taken her off the 2nd med she was on. Trying to brush her hair and not cause seizure systems is NOT a fun task.
We've decided to put her back on the 2nd med at a smaller dose to see if we can get the head/hair thing under control. Taryn's glucose levels were really high though. The levels should be between 70-100 and hers was 144. She'll go back in 2 weeks as well and have her bloodwork done again. She'll have her meds checked since she's now going to be on 2 again and she'll have a fasting glucose done.

We're hoping that the glucose tests will come back normal on both kids. We are thinking that the glucose tests might have been high because they had recently finished eating their breakfast. If the tests are still high then we'll be referred to a Pediatric Endocrinologist.

Preschool for Brennan

Mr. B starts preschool the day after Labor Day. Yesterday was the open house where he could meet the teachers (who he already knows) and play a little while I picked up paperwork and dropped of his supplies.

It was a little scared to go. It didn't help that Jadyn told him I was going to take him and leave him there by himself. The look of fear on his face and him telling me he wasn't going wasn't fun. Needless to say there will be no more conversations of that type any time soon.

Once we got to the preschool Brennan did fine. He still wanted to know where Kolin and I were, but he had a great time meeting the other kids and playing. I think he'll do great and have a wonderful time once he gets into the swing of things.

Wenonades

Can you figure out what Wenonades means?

Kolin and I couldn't until today. Brennan has been asking for Wenonades for a couple of days now. After doing some shopping we asked asked Brennan what he wanted for lunch. Wenonades was the answer...

As we are driving down the street Brennan starts pointing and yelling Wenonades Wenonades Wenonades. Turns out it's Wendy's. Go Figure. Kolin and I could have sworn he wanted Lemonade from somewhere.

Parenting, it's a guessing game.

Webkinz have taken over!

Anyone have a webkinz for their child or for themselves?

Jadyn and Taryn got one each for their birthdays. Jadyn got the pink poodle (Pixie) and Taryn has a frog (Hippity Hoppity Spot). The girls love to play the games, decorate numerous rooms and play tournaments.

Here are Taryn's rooms:

8 Days & Counting

Jadyn & Taryn start school next Wednesday. Jadyn will be in 3rd grade and Taryn will be in 1st.

I became one of 'those' parents this year and specifically asked for a certain teacher for Taryn. While I was told that the teacher wasn't guaranteed, the school would do what they could to fullfill my request. I found out last night that she's got the teacher I asked for and I'm thrilled.

We'll find out who Jadyn's teacher is on Friday. She's super excited to find out. I don't think she really has a preference either way...which is nice. I really wouldn't want her to be upset because she didn't get who she wanted for a teacher.

I've just got a couple more things to buy before I can say that their supply lists are totally completed. We'll go clothes shopping once the weather cools down and they'll actually wear jeans, long sleeves shirts, etc.

Road Trip!

We went on a quick overnight visit to see Kolin's side of the family. The kids were itching to see grandma and grandpa. Jadyn and Taryn love spending the night and having one on one time with them. We had a quick, but sweet visit with great grandma and got to see her room.

Jadyn, Taryn, Brennan, Konnor and Kolton played hide and seek for quite a while. It was fun watching the big kids play with the little kids and still enjoy it all.

Love This Quote

"You don't want to be your child's friend. You don't want to protect them from everything. You want them to have good character. If you're a parent now, you'll get to be a friend later. That can't happen in reverse."

Going Through Papers...

I was going through some 'kid' papers today and came across this little diddy that Jadyn made for Kolin and I last December. (click on the pic to make it bigger)

~*~July Birthdays~*~

Jadyn and Taryn recently had their birthdays. Jadyn just turned 8 and Taryn is 6 already. Wow, time flies!

They both ended up wanting a custard cake over me making a cake this year. (I had a couple of fun cakes planned too) Oh well, there is always next year.

Our girl LOVES bubbles!

That really HURT!

Taryn and Brennan had to go in bright and early this morning to have bloodwork done to check their med levels before their drs. appt next week.

Taryn is a trooper. She hops up in the chair herself, tells the ladies which arm they can take blood from and will even show them which vein. No crying, no whining and she enthralled watching them extract the blood they need.

Brennan would have rather run away and hid. He got up on my lap and we had to fight him a little to get his arm straight. He started crying before the needle even went in and then of course cried harder once it did. No consoling worked and I felt awful for him. Once they were done he looked the ladies straight in the eye and screamed "THAT REALLY HURT!"

Needless to say all day long he's been coming up to me and showing me the little itsy bitsy hole in his arm and telling me "That Really HURT!"

Heat & Humidity = Cranky mom and kids!

The weather has been unbelievably humid for the past several days. Even with the air conditioning it's not really helping. The minute you step outside the door you feel like you've walked into a sauna. I'm cranky, the kids are cranky...we just need a nice cool day. Is that really too much to ask for?

Who's the bossy one?

This morning I was in the bathroom throwing laundry in the dryer when I heard Brennan yelling at his sisters. I called him into the bathroom and this is what I got:

Me: Brennan you shouldn't be yelling at your sisters.

Brennan: But, THEY are being bossy!!!

Me: I think you are the one being bossy young man and you need to me nicer.

Brennan: Ok, mama

***He then goes back out to the living room and I hear this:

Brennan: Mama says you are being bossy and you need to be NICE!

Something new...

We've got a family website, but some people aren't able to view it due to different reasons. I finally decided to use this blog that I had started and not kept up with some time ago.

Who knows what I'll put here...we'll just have to wait and find out together.
